How to Wear Boots as a Man
Recently there have been a lot of posts about boots for men. I’m a huge supporter of man boots and I even own a few pairs myself. However, I’ll be the first to tell you that they are extremely difficult to pull off successfully. I’m not even sure if I’ve done it yet myself. Nevertheless, here are some tips that might help your boot wearing experience look cool and not trife.
If you’re going to tuck your pants into the boots (like J.T. above) make sure that the boots are not much taller than a few inches above your ankle. If the boots are too tall (like Andre 3000 above) you’ll end up looking a bit too lady like. When tucking, there are two options. The full tuck - shows off the boots. The partial tuck - more nonchalant where you just tuck part of the pants into the boots or just one pant leg. The third option is to roll/fold the pants up and over the boots. If you wear the boots with camp socks you can tuck your pants into those for an added touch. Of course there’s always the option of not tucking… boo.
When choosing boots, make sure they are a solid (preferably non patent) leather (or faux leather) so they will last long and age gracefully. Stick with a neutral brown, black or tan - a boot is already quite a statement, you don’t need to throw color in there as well. As far as style, like I said try to keep it within a few inches of your ankle and make sure that it doesn’t make your foot look unproportional to your body (which is unfortunately where I run into most of my issues having a shrimpy frame)
If anyone pulls it off - let me know!
